Great victory for Catt in the Winter Cup

For a long time Gary Catt had failed to show his talent with a major victory. At Lonato, the British Tony Kart driver fought until the end to maintain his advantage and get onto the top step of the podium. Combining performance and consistency, he withstood several challengers for his position. The return to form for the green was confirmed by Marco Ardigo‘s 3rd place, which came after many crashes in the heats.

The CRG team also demonstrated a high level of competitiveness with 3 drivers completely on the ball: Fore, Kozlinski and Thonon. The latter could not defend his chances after a jumped start, but Arnaud Kozlinski was continually threatening Catt, up until to the last corners. Koko finished 2nd. Davide Forè, in 5th, had perhaps the greatest potential for victory among the blacks. Attempting a maneuver on Catt on the 1st lap, he slid on cold tyres and lost more than 12 places. His next race will be a long ascent to the front of the field, with a driving style that remains pure.

The Birel / Parillas of Toman, Cesetti and Grice were very fast, but their reliability saw them fail to reach the finish. One of the strong men of this weekend was definitely Ben Hanley, returning for a race at Maranello. In the final, he threatened the leader for a long time before a great fight with Kozlinski then Toman. These two drivers plus Vainio retired in mid race. Aaro Vainio (Maranello / Maxter) was able to take 2nd position from 10th on the grid, by the 9th lap. He was very close to the leader when his equipment failed. Brimming with enthusiasm, the talent of the young Finn has exploded in his 2 races in the top category. No doubt he will go far …

In 4th, Oliver Rowland (LH / Maxter) produced a solid race to console him for his setbacks at La Conca. Manuel Renaudie (Gillard / Parilla), in 6th, also put in a very good performance demonstrating the PDB team’s progress. Bressan (Kosmic / Vortex) finished 7th, ahead of Rob Foster-Jones and David Gaggianesi (FA Kart / Vortex). Marco Moretti (PCR / TM) completed the top 10.

Starting 23rd, Armand Convers (Kosmic / Vortex) was en-route to a good result when he was forced to retire after his reeds failed, when he was already up to 8th position. Finally, we can note the good performance from Gianni Gazzurelli (FA Kart / Vortex), who was on the pace until halfway, when he was slowed by a his engine starting to seize, but still finished 18th.
