The Friday free practices were the prelude to what could be the decisive event in the 2008 WSK International Series. The final race of the season will be at Zuera (Spain), but the Sarno meeting could produce the names of the winners early. Therefore the rankings are of the utmost importance for the 185 pilots who registered today, ready to attack for the final victory.

Federal recognition as an “FIA Authorised Series” is well deserved by the WSK series, which even in this late stage of the season is capable of attracting drivers from 30 countries. Europeans drivers (25, of which 7 are from Eastern Europe) represent the majority of the 303 series entries, but there is also significant participation from drivers from North America, South America and Asia. To complete the entry, 23 chassis manufacturers and 12 engine manufacturers are officially present with their race teams, with the direct support of tyre manufacturers Bridgestone, Dunlop and Vega.

Marco Ardigò (TonyKart-Vortex) for the KZ2 title.
Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), at the top with 74 championship points, has already scented the smell of victory, which is mathematically within his reach at this weekend. His nearest opponent, the Dutchman Bas Lammers (Top Kart-TM-Vega) follows with 36 points, while the Frenchman Tony Lavanant (Energy-TM-Vega) and Florentine Alessandro Piccini (Maranello-TM-Vega) are tied on 32 points. But it is impossible to make a prediction for the race, given the number of high-level pilots who will meet on the track: the first is Sauro Cesetti (Birel-TM-Vega), recent winner of KF1 in the WSK, together with the holder of the 2007 World Cup and 2008 European Championship in KZ1, the Belgian Jonathan Thonon (CRG-Maxter-Vega). Do not forget David Forè (Maranello-Maxter-Vega), after his triumph in KF1 World Cup at Suzuka, and also Francesco Laudato (Birel-TM-Vega), who is seeking a very good result on his home track.

Aniello Smarrazzo (FA Kart-Vortex) remains the leader of the KF2.
At Sarno, the Neapolitan Smarrazzo (FA Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) with 58 points remains the leading driver in KF2 but the championship is wide open. A single point separates the Englishman Jack Harvey (Birel-Parilla-Bridgestone) from Smarrazzo, with Oliver Rowland (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) following with 53 points.

Brandon Maisano (Intrepid-TM) close to victory in KF3.
The French driver Brandon Maisano (Intrepid-TM-Dunlop) leads the standings with 78 points and is the reference point for the Dutchman Nyck De Vries (Zanardi-XTR-Dunlop), who trails by 15 points but is very determined to come back. The others following this duel are likely to be Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) and Lorenzo Camplese (FA Kart-TM-Dunlop), who follow with 39 and 38 points.
