Fast But Unlucky
When he joined the official CRG Team, Davide Forè started the 2009 season with a lot of hopes and, as usual, a strong willingness to give the best of himself. Unfortunately, the five-time World Champion has not conquered the foreseen victory despite his usual fantastic speed. The same has happened at the World Cup for KZ1, when a podium was within the Italian driver’s reach.

Fast But Unlucky

Winner of the World Cup in 2006 and third last year, Davide Forè was determined to reach another excellent result in the KZ1 category, where the best drivers in the world compete. “From the beginning of the season, my CRG-Maxter kart has always achieved excellent performances in its 125 cc gearbox version. At the end of July, I reached the pole position in a heat at the WSK (Salbris), then I maintained my leadership position after qualifiers by winning two heats. Though the final did not go as I had hoped, I felt very optimistic when I came to Sarno”.

At an average speed of almost 100 km/h, Davide Forè was eighth in timed practice among 68 drivers. In the qualifying heats, he demonstrated to be among the favourites of this World Cup, held in his home country, Italy. He won one of the heats and then was second and third. Unfortunately, he lost several points when he was forced to abandon a heat. “I was in second line, but the driver in front of me stalled. I had to pull out to avoid a collision but our rear wheels touched and this damaged one of my wheels, so I was forced to stop. Instead of starting from third place in the pre-final, I had to content myself with a 13th place”.

In the same pack as his team mate Thonon, the CRG driver reached sixth place by setting the same times as race leaders. Davide was well determined to continue his progression in the final. After a promising race debut, though, he had to pull over, his engine broken! “I would like to congratulate Jonathan Thonon on his superb victory, but given his level of performance, I feel some regrets, because I really had the chance to be on the podium with him. Thanks to the CRG Team, to Maxter, to engine mechanic Patrick Savard and to my mechanic’s hard work I was very competitive. I have not won for a few races, but I feel as determined and motivated as usual and I want to achieve again some positive results for my partners, who support me and whom I’d like to thank. The forthcoming last two rounds of the WSK and, most of all, the World Championship at Macao will give me an opportunity to forget my disappointment”.
