GPO Saison 4, Episode 2, Angerville, World Stage

Reaffirming its reputation as an international circuit, Angerville will host a CIK-FIA U18 Word Championship round six years after the 2006 World Championship. But before this very important event, the second GPO of the season will take place next weekend on the Île-de-France circuit, which offers a prestigious setting for this hard-fought meeting, more open than ever, in the race to the most important titles of the French Karting Championship.

Over 150 drivers are expected in Île-de-France on 11, 12 and 13 May, at the Angerville GPO, the second round of the French Karting Championships, which will also see the Rotax Max and Rotax Master classes competing for their respective French Cups. According to forecasts the weather will be fine, providing a favourable setting for the meeting after a long series of wet races.

In KF3, the usual duel between the Belgian and French drivers risks being arbitrated by a British driver, the young Callum Ilott (Zanardi/Parilla), noticed for his performances in international events since the beginning of the year. Paolo Besancenez (Sodi/Parilla) nourishes the ambition of conquering the lead of the French Championship provisional standings, ahead of a bunch of formidable rivals such as Bryan Elpitiya (Zanardi/Parilla), Thomas Landais (Sodi/Parilla), and Jérémy Demarque (Sodi/Parilla). The season has just begun, but there will be several serious contenders ready to catch the opportunity to get back on the race to the title.

In the absence of Pascal Belmaaziz, who was injured at Val d’Argenton, the fight in KF2 will involve the Frenchmen Paul Boutonnet (Tony Kart/Parilla) and Valentin Moineault (Tony Kart/Vortex) who showed remarkable performances at Varennes, the experienced Vincent Fraïsse (Sodi/Parilla), very happy to back among the leading contenders, while the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (ART GP/Parilla), leader of the provisional classification, will be the international reference driver.

Maxime Roy (Tony Kart/TM), who is current leader in KZ2, has recently raced in WSK to train and increase his chances to stand up to excellent drivers such as Julien Poncelet (ART GP/TM) or Pierre Ragues (Sodi/Maxter), while Christophe Benoit (Birel/TM) or Charles Fiault (Sodi/Maxter) might get back to the head of the timesheets.

The Rotax Max class will gather the highest number of drivers in Angerville, with over 50 entrants including several protagonists of the 2011 French Cup, which was hosted on this same circuit. Thomas Ricci (Tony Kart) is among the favourites after his second place last year, together with Quentin Bonnier (Intrepid), who was 4th. But the list of entrants includes several potential candidates to victory, such as Jules Afonso (Tony Kart), Jules Gounon (Sodi), Pierre Giner (Tony Kart), and Maxence Laurent (Tony Kart).

Jérémie Charon (Tony Kart) and Franck Rouxel (Sodi) risk being again shoulder to shoulder at the Rotax Master French Cup, but will have to keep an eye on regulars such as Pascal Bielatowicz (Exceed), Bruno Dos Santos (Sodi), Cyrille Bracquart (Birel) or Christophe Adams (Tony Kart).
