The French Karting Championship is nearing its conclusion and the Ostricourt GPO, to be held in the north of France this weekend, will be the last meeting before the final round in Laval (October). Surprises are not excluded on a track that alternates fast and tortuous stretches. If Anthony can hope to win the KZ2 title already this meeting, the same does not hold true for KF3 and especially KF2, where the games are still open. In addition to the three usual categories there will be the first French Cup Rotax Max Master, with more than a hundred entered drivers waiting for the event.

Close Fight in KF2

Enzo Guibbert (FA Kart/Vortex) brilliantly got the situation back on the right track after the previous race in Lyon and took the lead of the provisional standings. However, the Belgian Denis Dupont (Tony Kart/Vortex) remains a formidable rival for the southern driver. The two TKF drivers, Clément Bluy and Victor Sendin (Tony Kart/Vortex) come straight from the World Championship in Spain, were they put in some remarkable performances. After an excellent performance in Lyon, John Filippi (Tony Kart/Vortex) has gained 9 places in the Championship in a single stroke. Just like Pascal Belmaaziz (DR/Parilla), his performance at the world meeting in Zuera was excellent. In the absence of Vincent Fraïsse, Alex Baron (Sodi/Parilla) will defend, together with Belmaaziz, the colours of Equipe de France FFSA Karting, to which the leader also belongs.

KF3: Gasly in Good Position

The current man to beat in the Junior category with a comfortable lead in the standings, Pierre Gasly (Sodi/Parilla), will return to Portugal with a fantastic 4th place in the World Cup. However, his superiority may be challenged by his Monegasque team mate Charles Leclerc, in second place. Anthoine Hubert (Tony Kart/Vortex), 3rd in the Championship, has not said his last word yet and at the previous GPO he got back in the race. Drivers like Léo Roussel (Sodi/Parilla) and Rémy Deguffroy (Tony Kart/Vortex) have their place in the fight, especially after their recent excellent performances at world level. An eye should also be kept on Florian Latorre’s (DR/Parilla) regular progression. Quentin Chauvé (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Kenny Marquès (RK/TM) will be starting out in KF3 after a season in the Cadet category.

Abbasse Has Solid Leadership in KZ2

As things are now, it will be hard to beat Anthony Abbasse and his Sodi/Maxter, who has clearly dominated since the beginning of the GPO season. However, a group of drivers is ready to take advantage of the first opportunity: Pierre Ragues (Sodi/TM), vice champion of Le Mans Series 2010, is getting closer in the standings, Yan Pesce (Energy/TM), the fast driver from the Auvergne, Emilen Grosso (Intrepid/TM) with his formidable kart and William Benedetti (Sodi/TM) currently back in the top 5. Ostricourt will also see the return of Yannick Savard (CRG/Maxter), who showed some fantastic performances at the opening round.

Forecast Impossible in Rotax Master

Although several candidates have already shown their talent in the Rotax Max Master, it is still impossible to know who has more chances to win the first French Cup of its genre. Bruno Dos Santos (Sodi), Stéphane Picque (Intrepid), Ludovic Breton (Kosmic) and Cyrille Bracquart (Intrepid) are already standing out, but Emmanuel Him (Intrepid), Patrick Harmuth (Mirage), David Le Manac’h (Tony Kart), among others, could lay their cards on the table on the northern track.
