Belgian Herman takes pole position for the Academy Trophy in Slovakia

The 47 drivers in the Academy Trophy completed Qualifying Practice at the Slovakia Ring with their two consecutive sessions. In the sun, the temperature was 33°. In contrast to the two previous categories, many of the drivers took to the track without delay. Between five and seven laps were covered in each group.

Session 1: Rad – 53”105
Reaan Dharmadasa (LKA) was fastest on the second lap before being overtaken by Victor Alexandru Rad (ROU), who started later. Fausto Arnaudo (ARG) held on to 2nd place while Rad improved. Rad remained the session leader with his third lap in 53’105, but Alex Pinera Rusinol (ESP) had closed to within 2 hundredths. Arnaudo was 3rd at 28 thousandths, then Fedor Sedelnikov 4th and Simba Motoda (JPN) 5th at 39 thousandths.

Session 2: Herman – 52”819
Martim Barros Meneses (PRT) had already improved his provisional pole position on his second run, followed by Nojus Stasionis (LTU). Gilles Herman (BEL) then took control with an excellent third lap of 52”819, synonymous with pole position. Meneses finished 2nd, more than 2 tenths behind, while Joel Taipale (FIN) was third, just one thousandth behind on his fifth lap. Stationis was 4th ahead of Dan Allemann (CHE). Lilian Soares (FRA) was 12th in the session.
