Van Langendonck and Kamyab win the Junior Super Heats at Val d’Argenton

The weather was fine on Sunday morning for the Super Heats of the FIA Karting European OK-Junior Championship on the virtually dry Val d’Argenton track.

Super Heat A: Van Langendonck ahead of Martinese
Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame) was leading when the lights went out, followed by Filippo Sala (LN/TM) and Dries van Langendonck (Exprit/TM), while Kit Belofsky (KR/Iame) was 4th ahead of Daniel Kelleher (KR/Iame). The battle for P1 intensified with several overtakes in the leading group. Martinese was followed by van Langendonck, then Sala and Belofsky, with Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/Iame) back in 6th. Van Langendonck took the lead halfway through the race when he courageously overtook Martinese. Hoogendoorn attacked Belofsky for P3 and Sala then came home 4th.
Van Langendonck narrowly overtook Martinese, while Hoogendoorn secured a fine 3rd place with a gain of nine places. Sala was 4th ahead of Belofsky, Borys Lyzen (Sodi/TM) lost ground in the final laps and Noah Baglin (KR/Iame) finished 6th. Thomas Pradier (KR/Iame) was 16th after an uneventful race and Mathéo Rivals (Sodi/TM) retired on the penultimate lap.

Super Heat B: Kamyab controls Costoya
Sebastian Minns (LN/TM) made his way through the inside of Turn 1 to take the lead from Roman Kamyab (LN/TM). Jensen Burnett (KR/Iame) 3rd ahead of Vladimir Ivannikov (Energy/TM) and Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) 5th. Louis Cochet (KR/Iame) dropped back to 10th and Rocco Coronel (KR/Iame) 12th after a stint on the grass. Kamyab immediately regained P1 ahead of his team-mate Minns. Kenzo Craigie (KR/Iame) moved up nine places to 5th, but Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) attacked him on lap 4. Kamyab took the lead as the battle for P2 intensified. Costoya took it on lap 6, followed by Schaufler and Burnett, with Minns losing places. Kamyab maintained a good lead despite Costoya’s impressive comeback, with Schaufler managing the pressure in 3rd ahead of Henry Domain (Energy/TM) and Paul Andriotis (LN/TM). Kamyab won the race 1.2″ ahead of Costoya, Schaufler was 3rd at 2″. Domain took 4th place 6 tenths further back, Andriotis finished 5th, Coronel moved up to 6th ahead of Minns and Burnett then Cochet 9th. Aloïs Girardet (Energy/TM) held on to 15th place, Théo Battisti (Sodi/TM) had moved up six places to 17th and Luka Scelles (Sodi/TM) finished 28th.
