Bertuca and Kremers win KZ2 Prefinals in Sarno

The weather remained wet in Sarno for the KZ2 Prefinals of the fourth and final round of the WSK Super Master Series.

Prefinal A: Bertuca wins, Denner climbs back up the order
Maksim Orlov (Parolin/TM) lacked grip at the start and Artem Severiukhin (Birel ART/TM) took the lead ahead of Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM), then Genis Civico (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Michael Paparo (CRG/TM). Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) had already moved up five places to 6th. Bertuca moved into the lead on lap 2, while Orlov lost further ground. Denner quickly moved up to P3 and set off in pursuit of Severiukhin, 3.7″ ahead. Stan Pex (KR/TM) moved up to 4th place, overtaking Civico in the company of Giuseppe Palomba (Sodi/TM) as the halfway mark was passed. Bertuca secured victory at the end of the race by less than a second. Denner had overtaken Severiukhin on the 12th lap for a brilliant 2nd place on the track with 8 places gained, but a spoiler penalty put him back to 4th behind Severiukhin and Pex finished 4th, with Palomba 5th. Arthur Poulain (Sodi/TM) finished 10th.

Final B: Kremers at ease
After a turbulent start, Marijn Kremers (Tony Kart/Vortex) led from Markus Kajak (Maranello/TM), then Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) 3rd, Jean Nomblot (Sodi/TM) 4th and Daniel Vasile (Birel ART/TM) 5th. Nomblot then overtook Leuillet for P3, followed by Vasile. Kremers already had a lead of over a second on the second lap. The track gradually began to dry out with the return of the sun. Vasile pounced on Nomblot to take 3rd place on lap 5, while Francesco Celenta (Tony Kart/Vortex) moved into the top five ahead of Leuillet. Jean Luyet (Birel ART/TM) then moved up eight places to 5th before having to retire. Kremers continued to race alone at the front, setting the fastest lap 1.8″ ahead of Kajak and Vasile, a second behind in 3rd. Nomblot secured a fine 4th place. Leuillet had to make do with 8th place.
