Bertuca and Severiukhin impress in the rain of the KZ2 Prefinal

The rain was still with us on Sunday morning in Cremona for the KZ2 Prefinal of the WSK Super Master Series #2.

Prefinal A: Bertuca well ahead
Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM) remained in the lead at the start, ahead of Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) and Giuseppe Palomba (Sodi/TM). Marijn Kremers (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Adrien Renaudin (DR/Modena) crashed out of the race on the first lap. Denner took control on the second lap, with Tigran Bunatyan (Maranello/TM) 4th and Samuel Luyet (Birel ART/TM) 5th. Leuillet retired. Bertuca regained the lead on the sixth lap and overtook Denner, with Palomba 3rd at 1.3″. Bunatyan then lost ground to Luyet (4th) and Maksim Orlov (Parolin/TM) (5th). Bertuca proved extremely fast in the 2nd half of the race and won with a 4.2″ lead, although he was later penalised for his front fairing. Palomba inherited P2 after Denner was penalised, in 3rd place. Orlov took 4th place and Markus Kajak (Maranello/TM) came 5th. Renaudin regained 8th place.

Prefinal B: Severiukhin puts on a show
On the grid, the top five were from Birel ART / TM Kart. Artem Severiukhin (Birel ART/TM) held P1 on the first lap ahead of Daniel Vasile (Birel ART/TM), Matteo Vigano (Birel ART/TM) and Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM). Kasper Schormans (Sodi/TM) was 5th. Very fast, Severiukhin set the fastest time and already had a 1.7″ lead on lap 3, then 3.3″ ahead of Vigano on lap 4. Hiltbrand dropped to 19th place. Vasile fell back to 9th after going off the track while battling with Vigano. Jean Luyet (Birel ART/TM) was 3rd ahead of Slavik Putiatin (Maranello/TM) and Lukas Scherbinskas (Energy/TM), Shormans having also crashed. Severiukhin won by an incredible margin of 9.6” over Vigano, who was then penalised by 10” in 7th position. Luyet was placed 2nd ahead of Scherbinskas. Jérémy Potain (Birel ART/TM) was 9th and Enzo Lacreuse (DR/Modena) 11th.
