Crisan wins the Mini Final, title goes to Walz

Just as the sun cream was beginning to run out after several sunny days, the mercury rose to 12°C in Franciacorta for the Mini Final of the WSK Final Cup.

Devin Walz (Parolin/Iame) started from the front row alongside Ilie Tristan Crisan (Tony Kart/Vortex). The American got off to a better start than the Canadian, who missed the mark. Walz led ahead of Mariano Lopez (Parolin/Iame), Michele Orlando (DR/TM), Cristian Blandino (CRG/TM), William Calleja (Parolin/Iame) and Crisan. You couldn’t have slipped a coin between the top two as they drove wheel-to-wheel. Orlando then threatened Lopez, but Calleja was back in 3rd place, 2 tenths behind Crisan. Crisan took P1 ahead of Lopez and Walz on lap 7. Calleja and Oleksandr Legenkyi (KR/Iame) completed the top five. Crisan had a small lead going into the penultimate lap, but everything was tightening up in the run-up to the finish. Crisan took the win after a Dantesque final corner. Calleja secured 2nd place on the line with a gain of 7 places, but a spoiler penalty dropped him back to 13th. Walz, the championship winner, was 2nd in the race. Blandino took 3rd and Lopez 4th ahead of Lengenkyi and Albert Tamm (Parolin/Iame).
