OK Prefinals: wins for Bondarev and Matveev

The thermometer rose above 10° under the bright sunshine of Lonato for the OK Prefinals of the WSK Final Cup.

Prefinal A: Bondarev makes a winning comeback

Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) retained P1 at the start, with Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) moving up to 2nd ahead of Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex), Gerasim Skulanov (KR/Iame) and Salim Hanna (KR/Iame). The Slow procedure was initiated then Khavalkin stopped due to a technical problem. The race was restarted on lap 4. Coluccio and Pavan were leading against Skulanov, while Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) had moved up to 4th ahead of Hanna and Taym Saleh (KR/Iame). Halfway through the race, Pavan lost two places to Skulanov and Bondarev. Clément Outran (KR/Iame) was back in the top 10, up six places. Bondarev moved up to 2nd, 2.6 tenths behind Coluccio. On the 13th lap, Bondarev led from Coluccio and won four laps later with a 1.1 advantage and the fastest lap. Coluccio was 2nd, Pavan 3rd, Skulanov 4th and Hanna 5th. Outran was 10th, while Andrea Dupé (KR/Iame) finished 17th.

Prefinal B: Matveev at the finish

Gustaw Wisniewski (Tony Kart/Iame) immediately followed in the wake of leader Dmitry Matveev (KR/Iame) and took the lead on the second lap. Simone Bianco (CRG/Iame), Ean Eyckmans (Birel ART/TM) and Kirill Kutskov (KR/Iame) completed the top five. Eyckmans was 2nd, Bianco 3rd ahead of Matveev. Eyckmans took the lead on the fifth lap. Hugo Martiniello (KR/Iame) had made up three places to 16th at the halfway stage. Eyckmans was still in control of Wisniewski and Matveev, who moved up to 2nd with five laps to go. Matveev caught up with the leader at the end of the race and won the final lap from Wisniewki and Eyckmans. Kutskov and Bianco finished in the top five ahead of Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM). Martiniello was 16th.
