Morocco joins the world of the IAME Series
The creation of the IAME Series Morocco brings the number of IAME national championships organised around the world to 49, following the concept launched by the world’s leading manufacturer of kart racing engines. From the outset, X30 engines have helped to develop the talents of drivers from all five continents, enabling thousands of competitors to indulge their passion. Morocco will be joining this unprecedented sporting momentum from the 2024 season thanks to S1 Speedway.
“Morocco is a very promising country for motor sport,” says Marco Moretti, Director of the IAME Series. “Moroccans have been interested in racing for several decades. But the country’s current dynamism means that new opportunities are emerging. The creation of new motor racing circuits and the revival of karting tracks such as the one in Marrakech are part of this trend. We are delighted to have found in S1 Speedway a serious partner for our new venture in Morocco.”
The IAME Series Morocco Championship will comprise five events, which will take place particularly on the Marrakech circuit. Open to both Moroccan and foreign drivers, this competition has a strong appeal. It is a quality championship accessible to all and organised by professionals. The international participation can serve as a benchmark for national drivers wishing to progress. Scheduled at the start of the season, the mild weather of southern Morocco will provide a welcome contrast to the winter still reigning over most of Europe. Rigorously updated, the selected circuits offer high safety standards in addition to their selective layouts. With its president Suleiman Zanfari, the S1 Speedway team is doing everything in its power to exceed the expectations of competitors from all backgrounds.
Suleiman is a young Moroccan racing driver currently competing in the Formula 3 Regional Eurocup 3 class, with a strong following. During his early career in karting, he visited a large number of karting tracks around the world, including some of the most famous. His knowledge of the strongest international organisations gives him unique expertise in the field.
“I know first hand that karting is a breeding ground for motorsport,” says Suleiman. “Through S1 Speedway, I want to give as many drivers as possible the benefit of my experience to develop this sport in a country where demand is strong. Being able to organise races while still competing in this discipline is a real opportunity for the future of Moroccan karting. Thanks to the confidence of the IAME Factory, the IAME Series Morocco will be able to crown the new Champions of 2024 in the six categories Bambino, X30 Mini, X30 Junior, X30 Senior, X30 Master and Z-I.”
