Sarno – OK-N and OK-N Junior Prefinals: Hoogendoorn wins against Yildirim

Under the low clouds of Sarno, the track was dry at the start of the OK-N and OK-N Junior Prefinal of the WSK Euro Series. But the wind picked up and the weather was threatening.

Bosco Arias Chavarri (KR/Iame) got off to an excellent start and closed the gap on leader Antonio Apicella (KR/Iame), but Bati Ege Yildirim (Parolin/TM) limped through the first lap in second place. Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/Iame) was 4th, followed by Giacomo Giusto (Parolin/TM). The two OK-Ns pulled away and Yildirim attacked Apicella for 1st place, while Jesse Phillips (KR/Iame) moved up to 5th. Hoogendoorn was back in 3rd place, passing Arias on the 5th lap. In the lead, Yildirim continued to hold off Apicella while Hoogendoorn gradually closed in. Robin Sarg (Lenzo/LKE) passed Bruno Gryc (Parolin/TM) for 5th place. Apicella attacked Yildirim on lap 9, but the Turk hit back as Hoogenddorn joined the battle with Arias hot on his heels. Apicella started the final lap in the lead. Yildirim hit back in the final corner, but Hoogenddorn pulled away to win the race. Arias was 3rd and Apicella 4th. Sarg took 5th place 2” further back.
