Powell and Gomez win OK Super Heats at Rødby

The weather was fine in Rødby for the OK Super Heats of the Champions of the Future Euro Series. The temperature rose from 15° to 17°.

Super Heat 1: Powell in comfort
Alex Powell (KR/Iame) got off to a perfect start and edged out Arthur Poulain (Tony Kart/Vortex) by a second on the first run. Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 3rd ahead of David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex). Fionn Mac Laughlin (KR/Iame) was 9th. A collision eliminated Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM), while Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) crashed out to last place. The gaps stretched to more than a second between the top four. Luka Sammalisto (KR/Iame) was back in 5th ahead of Rene Lammers (Parolin/TM) and Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM). Sammalisto then attacked Walther for 4th place. Poulain set the fastest time, but Powell responded in under 50”. Mac Laughlin was back in 6th place, while Lammers dropped back to 10th. Powell won the race comfortably 9 tenths ahead of Poulain. Eyckmans was 3rd at 4.7″, Sammalisto 4th and Walther 5th. Mac Laughlin finished 6th ahead of Lammers in 7th. Jules Caranta (Energy/TM) was 14th, Khavalkin 16th, Nakamura-Berta 20th and Andrea Dupé (Sodi/TM) 26th.

Super Heat 2: Gomez in masterly style
Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) maintained his lead from the outside line with Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM) 2nd, Joe Turney (KR/Iame) 3rd and Thomas Strauven (KR/Iame) 4th. Enzo Tarnvanichkul (KR/Iame) remained 5th ahead of Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) +5 places. Turney quickly regained 2nd position ahead of Morgatto and Stolcermanis. Strauven moved up to 5th ahead of Tarnvanichkul. After four laps, Gomez was 1.3″ ahead of Turney and Morgatto. Maksimilian Popov (KR/Iame) moved up to 6th place, but Gustav Wisniewski (Exprit/TM) replaced him with a gain of nine positions. Popov and Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex) made contact and lost ground before retiring. Gomez continued to increase his advantage, setting a fastest lap which was immediately challenged by Turney. Gomez finished 1.8″ ahead of Turney. Morgatto was 3rd, less than 2 tenths behind Strauven. Stolcermanis had made up six places to finish in the top five ahead of Tarnvanichkul and Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM). Guillaume Bouzar (Tony Kart/Vortex) climbed eight places to 13th.
