Final Academy heats on Sunday in Trinec

Marius Barry-Berg remains the leader of the Academy heats.

It was already sunny and warm (22°) on Sunday morning in Trinec for the last two Qualifying Heats of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

Heat C-D : Silkunas
Sebastian Garzon (COL) had difficulties to start and took the start far from his position on the grid. Markas Silkunas (LTU) was already 8 tenths ahead of Aleksander Uusneem (EST) and Klara Kowalczyk (POL). Lisa Billard (FRA) started well and was 5th (+3 pl) on the third lap, just behind Ryutaro Sakai (JPN). There were several overtaking moves without much influence on the hierarchy. Silkunas had taken the lead, Uusneem had some margin in 2nd position and Billard was losing ground behind Sakai whom she had attacked a little earlier. Silkunas won 2.7″ ahead of Uusneem who was later penalised for a bad grid position and ended up 9th , Kowalczyk secured 2nd position ahead of Sakai and Billard.

Heat A-B: Marti
Marius Barry-Berg (NOR) started in the lead followed by Hugo Marti (ESP), Arthur Broughan (NZL) and Max Walton (AUS). Marti took the lead on the second lap. Alexi Constant (BEL) had recovered six places to 13th. Broughan took over 3rd place in the wake of Barry-Berg and quickly passed him for 2nd position. Marti had a lead of more than a second, but Broughan gradually reduced the gap. Marti won 3 tenths ahead of Broughan, Walton 3rd and Barry-Berg 4th. Simon Mayer (AUT) was 5th.
