Academy: Barry-Berg narrowly beats Broughan

The track was dry and the temperature was 14° for the first Qualifying Practice of the FIA Karting 2023 Academy Trophy in Trinec with 45 drivers.

Session 1: Barry-Berg – 53”867
Marius Barry-Berg (NOR) was in the lead on the second lap and improved on the fourth lap in 53”867, relegating Markas Silkunas (LTU) by three tenths. Hugo Marti (ESP) followed closely in 3rd, Wojciech Woda (POL) took 4th at 4 tenths and Simon Mayer (AUT) 5th.

Session 2: Broughan – 53”868
Arthur Broughan (NZL) was fastest on lap 2 in 54”319, but the times improved on lap 3, with Sebastian Garzon (COL) on 54”048. Broughan regained the lead on the fourth lap and finished with a time of 53’868, a thousandth of a second off pole position. Garzon took 2nd place at 0.180”, a tenth ahead of Max Walton (AUS). Aleksander Uusneem (EST) was 4th and Vasileios Apostolidis (GRC) 5th. Lisa Billard (FRA) improved her performance to 8th place.
