Wherrel takes the fastest OK-Junior time in Franciacorta

The second round of the WSK Super Master Series offers an additional attraction for the OK-Junior category as it takes place on the Franciacorta circuit which will host the World Championship next October. The field has grown to 105 participants in three very busy sessions. The weather was fine for the Qualifying sessions, the track was dry, but the thermometer was still below 6°.

Session: Illife – 48”129
After a close battle at the front, Jack Illife (Parolin/TM) was finally the fastest with 48”129, 9 hundredths ahead of Dries van Langendonck (Energy/TM). Salim Hanna Hernandez (LN/Vortex) held on to 3rd place just ahead of Luna Fluxa Cross (KR/Iame), Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame) 5th, Jindrich Pesl (IPK/TM) 6th and Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) 7th. A good 8th place for Paul Zunzarren Perez (Birel ART/TM).

Session 2: Wherrel – 47”645
Davide Bottaro (Tony Kart/Vortex) broke away from his rivals at the start of the session and then broke the 48” barrier. The competition was gradually closing in with Lewis Wherrel (Exprit/TM) taking provisional pole with 47”645, a tenth ahead of Bottaro. Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) came back to finish 3rd ahead of Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) and Elliiot Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex). Sacha Avril (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 26th.

Session 3: Schaufler – 47”797
Sebastian Lehtimaki (Tony Kart/Vortex) competed in P1 with Stepan Antonov (KR/Iame) ahead of Alp Aksoy (Tony Kart/Vortex). Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) 47”797 and Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) a hundredth further back, took the first two places against Lehtimaki, followed by Arjen Kraling (KR/Iame) 4th and Filipppo Sala (Sodi/TM) 5th. Louis Cochet (Sodi/TM) set a good 11th time, Andy Consani (Parolin/TM) finished 14th.
