DD2 Qualifying: van Parijs the poleman in Portimão

The weather was cloudy with some fine sunny periods for the DD2 Qualifying Practice for the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals 2022 in Portimao with 20° on the thermometer. The right moment to take the track was still the subject of more or less successful strategic choices.

Odd Session: van Parijs – 58”512
In the first batch to take to the track, Louis Large (GBR) took the lead with 59’186 ahead of David Cardenas (COL). Glenn van Parijs (BEL) then took the lead over Paolo Besancenez (FRA) with 58’512. Van Parijs remained fastest ahead of Dawid Maslakiewicz (POL) at 0.246”, followed by Xen De Ruwe in 3rd. Besancenez was 4th and Nicolas Picot (FRA) 5th.

Even Session: Kimber – 58”627
Nikita Ilianov (KGZ) was the first to set a time before things got out of hand. Jakub Bezel (CZE) took the lead over Mark Kimber (GBR) and Petr Bezel (CZE). Kimber managed a 58”627 close to pole position. Jakub Bezel finished 2nd by 3 hundredths, then Petr Bezel 3rd by 0,129”. Philipp Moitzi (AUT) finished 4th ahead of Kris Haanen (NLD). Antoine Barbaroux (FRA) was 8th and Hugo Croquison (FRA) 17th. Ruben Barrichello (BRA) finished 35th by a second.
