Morgatto wins the OK Final in the Swedish rain

The rain that interrupted the OK-Junior Final had time to soak the Kristianstad track for the start of the OK Final of the Champions of the Future Euro Series and upset the balance of power. Evan Giltaire (KR/Iame) and Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) shared the front row.

Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) was the first to make a mistake, but certainly not the last. Enzo Deligny (Parolin/TM) dropped out and Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/Vortex) crashed in 32nd place behind Stolcermanis. Matheus Morgatto (KR/Iame) was well ahead of Giltaire and Coluccio on the first lap. Freddie Slater (LN/Vortex) was 4th followed by Yuanpu Cui (KR/Iame) and Juho Valtanen (Tony Kart/Vortex). Malo Bolliet (KR/Iame) dropped out, followed by Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin/TM). Morgatto continued to lead 8 tenths ahead of Giltaire on the fifth lap. Coluccio was distanced, but still 3rd in front of Valtanen and Luka Sammalisto (KR/Iame). Joe Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex) had recovered 16 places to 9th.

At the halfway point, the rain had diminished and the track was a little less wet. Morgatto was leading 2” ahead of Giltaire, Coluccio was still 3rd by 2,5”, Valtanen 4th 6” further back. Turney was 7th and Arthur Rogeon (KR/Iame) was 12th after a difficult start. The race finally came to an end with Morgatto winning nearly 4” ahead of Giltaire. Coluccio took 3rd place 4,2″ later, followed by Valtanen in 4th place 5,5″ later and Sammalisto in 5th. After Alex Powell (KR/Iame) 6th, Turney finished 7th (+18 pl) with a spoiler penalty. Rogeon finished 19th, Slater 21st. 10 drivers did not finish.
