OK Super Rounds – Zuera: Turney and Deligny win

The sun continued to shine in Zuera for the OK Super Heats of the second round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series. On Sunday morning, the thermometer showed 15°.

A collision occurred at the back of the grid at lights out. Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM) crashed at the end of the field after a spin on the first lap. Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex) took the lead of Super Round 1, passing Joe Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex). David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) attacked Nicolo Cuman (Exprit/TM), followed by Matheus Morgatto. Malo Bolliet (KR/Iame) started strongly by gaining eight places in 7th position. The battle was raging in the leading trio with several changes of leader. Turney managed to keep a small lead over Walther and Eyckmans while Cuman joined them. Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) was 5th by 2″. Turney won clearly, Walther took 2nd place in front of Eyckmans and Cuman, then Stolcermanis at a good distance. Bolliet finished 12th and Arthur Rogeon (KR/Iame) 17th.

Alex Powell (KR/Iame) was in pole position in Super Heat 2. Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) came in 2nd ahead of Luigi Colucio (Tony Kart/Vortex). Powell dropped back to 3rd on the second lap, followed by Oscar Pedersen (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Freddie Slater (LN/Vortex). Evan Giltaire (KR/Iame) overtook Slater for 5th place, while Enzo Deligny (Parolin/TM) set a fastest time in 7th. Giltaire then attacked Powell and was 3rd while Deligny moved up to 4th on lap 6 of the 14-lap race. Coluccio took the lead, then Deligny moved up to 2nd ahead of Giltaire, but Nakamura regained 3rd position shortly after. Deligny closed in on Coluccio and attacked him on lap 11. Deligny won brilliantly on his 14th birthday with an 8-tenths advantage and the fastest lap in the race after a seven-place climb. Coluccio was 2nd, Nakamura 3rd despite Giltaire’s efforts. Powell finished 5th ahead of Rintaro Sato (KR/Iame) who moved up five places.

Provisional results pending publication of the final rankings.
