OK: Walther fastest in Portimão

64 drivers took part in the Champions of the Future OK Qualifying session in Portimao on a track that was almost dry with a 15° air temperature. With their MG tyres, the competitors took to the track between three and four minutes before the end of their session.

Artem Severiukhin (Tony Kart/Vortex) led on the first lap and improved to gain a big advantage on the second lap of Group 1 and his 55”762 set the provisional pole position. Matheus Morgatto (KR/Iame) followed by 8 hundredths, while Dion Gowda (LN/Vortex) was 3rd at 2 tenths, with Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Alex Powell (KR/Iame) in his wake. Malo Bolliet (KR/Iame) took an interesting 6th place.

The battle was fierce in the second group from the second lap with Yuanpu Cui (KR/Iame) neck and neck with Oscar Pedersen (Tony Kart/Vortex). The third lap saw Zachary David (KR/Iame) set the fastest provisional time in 56”059 ahead of Rintaro Sato (KR/Iame), with Cui 3rd, Joseph Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex) 4th and Maxim Rehm (LN/Vortex) 5th. Arthur Rogeon (KR/Iame) finished 14th.

The third group started even later. Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) dominated the second lap, but David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) took the pole position on the third lap in 55’700, two tenths ahead of Nico Cuman (Exprit/TM). Stolcermanis was 3rd followed by Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Enzo Deligny (Parolin/TM) who had beaten Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Freddie Slater (LN/Vortex).
