KZ2 Prefinals in Sarno: Hiltbrand and Van Hoepen win

The KZ2 Prefinals of the WSK Super Master Series #4 took place on Sunday lunchtime in the sun at Sarno, but the temperature did not exceed 11°.

Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM) followed Matteo Vigano (Birel ART/TM) at the start of Prefinal A. He attacked and took the lead on lap 2. Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM) moved up to 2nd place, while Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) was 4th ahead of Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) and Adrien Renaudin (Tony Kart/Vortex). Denner dropped out shortly afterwards, while Hiltbrand took the lead and Palomba returned to the top three. Danilo Albanese (KR/Iame) recovered his 5th place. At the halfway point, Hiltbrand was leading by a second ahead of Palomba and Iglesias. Arthur Carbonnel (Sodi/TM) was up to 12th. Hiltbrand eased off slightly in the run-up to the finish and secured the victory 4 tenths ahead of his team-mate Palomba and then Iglesias. Vigano finished 4th and Renaudin 5th.

Tom Leuillet (Birel ART/TM) started from pole position in the Prefinal B alongside his team-mate Laurens van Hoepen (Birel ART/TM). The Frenchman’s choice to start from the outside line did not pay off and he found himself in 2nd place ahead of Alessio Piccini (Birel ART/TM) and Paavo Tonteri (CRG/TM). Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM) was back in 5th place from the first lap. Paolo Ippolito (KR/Iame) came 3rd ahead of Alex Irlando (CRG/TM), while Piccini and Tonteri lost contact. Van Hoepen had taken the lead, van Walstijn was 4th. At mid-race, Van Hoepen had more than 2,5″ advantage on the new 2nd-placed driver, van Walstijn, who was ahead of Ippolito and Leuillet. Van Hoepen won 1,6” ahead of van Walstijn, who had moved up six places. Ippolito finished 3rd ahead of Irlando and David Liwinski (Birel ART/TM) and Leuillet 6th. Mattéo Sprigel (Sodi/TM) finished 16th, Corentin Rousseau (Sodi/TM) 19th and Thomas Imbourg (Sodi/TM) 20th.
