OK: Superb Winter Series Final victory for Stolcermanis

The OK Final of the Champions of the Future Winter Series was an exciting 23-lap race in the cool Franciacorta weather.

It was a good start from the inside lane with Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) in the lead ahead of Kean Nakamura Berta (KR/Iame), Joseph Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/Vortex) only 6th from the outside lane. Freddie Slater (LN/Vortex) had retired, Malsim Orlob (Parolin/TM) fell to 32nd and Rashid Al Dhaheri (KR/Iame) 27th. Turney was 2nd and Alex Powell (KR/Iame) 4th after a good start. Nakamura took 2nd place, Turney responded and Powell followed him in 3rd before passing Turney. Stolcermanis took advantage of this to take the lead by almost 1,4″. Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM) had again retired. Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) had made up 11 places to reach 6th position behind Taponen.

At the halfway point, Stolcermanis was leading with a 3″ advantage over Turney and Powell, Nakamura then moved up to 3rd ahead of Taponen and Matheus Ferreira (KR/Iame). The Brazilian continued his comeback by successively passing Taponen and Nakamura for 3rd place. Stolcermanis set the fastest lap and won an incredible victory on his OK debut with a 4.6″ lead over Turney. Ferreira secured a good 3rd place ahead of the two reigning World Champions Nakamura and Taponen. Coluccio finished 6th ahead of Joel Bergstrom (Exprit/TM), Powell 8th, Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) 9th and Harley Keeble (Birel ART/TM) 10th. Yevan David (Birel ART/TM) had regained 13 positions to 11th.
