Stolcermanis and Taponen win the OK Super Heats in Franciacorta

The weather in Franciacorta on Sunday morning was a little cool for the OK Super Heats of the Winter Series – Champions of the Future by RGMMC.

Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) kept the lead at the start of Super Heat 1 while Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) followed in 2nd and Matheus Ferreira (KR/Iame) 3rd. Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM) retired early. Ferreira passed Gomez who was now followed by Joe Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex). Stolcermanis maintained his lead of around 7 tenths. After a difficult start, Kean Nakamura Berta (KR/Iame) came back to 4th position in front of Gomez and set a fastest time. Stolcermanis increased his advantage at the halfway point of the race as the gaps widened at all levels. Nakamura was working hard to get closer to Ferreira in 2nd place. Stolcermanis added another victory to his score 2,3” ahead of Ferreira, followed by Nakamura. Turney finished 4th and Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) 5th with a gain of six places.

Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/Vortex) started in the lead of the Super Heat 2 and Maksim Orlov (Parolin/TM) followed in his wake ahead of Rashid Al Dhaheri (KR/Iame). Arvid Lindblad (KR/Iame) had withdrawn the day before due to a hand injury. Karol Pasiewicz (Birel ART/TM) retired after contact with Alex Machado (KR/Iame). Meanwhile Orlov was losing ground, Al Dhaheri and Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex) were back in the top three, Alex Powell (KR/Iame) was back in 4th ahead of Maxim Rehm (LN/Vortex) and Freddie Slater (LN/Vortex). Taponen was still more than 6 tenths ahead at the halfway point, but he was then pulling away as the battles behind him continued. Powell was threatening Al Dhaheri for 2nd place. Taponen won 2,2” ahead of Powell, who moved up four places then Al Dhaheri. Eyckmans finished 4th ahead of Slater.
