Final victory for Taponen in OK

The sun continued to warm up the Lonato track for the OK Final of Round 2 of the WSK Super Master Series. The thermometer was approaching 10 degrees.

Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/Vortex) was ahead of Joe Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Alex Powell (KR/Iame), while Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) was only 4th ahead of Artem Severiukhin (Tony Kart/Vortex). Enzo Deligny (Parolin/TM) in 14th place was down seven places and Kean Nakamura Berta (KR/Iame) down 17 in 21st. Coluccio was quickly back in 2nd, 2 tenths behind Taponen. Powell was 1.5 seconds back. Deligny was back in the top 10. Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM) and Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex) had already retired. The top two did not attack while Powell made the connection. Freddie Slater moved back into the top five at the halfway point, passing Turney. Powell attacked Coluccio for 2nd place on lap 14, 0.750″ behind leader Taponen. The Finnish world champion was 5 tenths ahead of the Jamaican, who was more than a second behind Coluccio. Severiukhin finished 4th ahead of Freddie Slater (LN/Vortex), followed by Deligny in 6th.
