Junior MAX Prefinals for Stolcermanis and Nishida

Behind Tomass Stolcermanis (LVA), Téo Blin (FRA) got off to a great start in Prefinal A with Jayden Thien (NLD) and Enzo Bol (NLD) in tow who soon overtook him. Joep Breedveld (NLD) followed in 5th place ahead of Federico Al Rifai (ARE). Pacôme Weisenburger (FRA) kept his 12th starting position and Paul Alberto (FRA) moved up to 15th. Stolcermanis started to take the lead in front of Thien, who was soon replaced in 2nd position by Bol. Blin was losing ground at times and Weisenburger joined him in 8th place. Stolcermanis was heading for victory over Bol, but 3rd place remained contested between Thien and Al Rifai. Stolcermanis won the race against Bol with 1,2″ advantage, Al Rifai 3rd, Thien 4th and Breedveld 5th. Blin finished 7th in front of Weisenburger and Alberto gained over seven places in 11th position.

Kai Rillaerts (BEL) was followed by Matej Konik (SVK) from the start of Prefinal B and Konic was soon in the lead. Mirai Nishida (JPN) was 3rd ahead of Edgars Vilcans (LVA) and Kamal Mrad (AUS). Elio Saintpaul (FRA), who had injured his hand the day before, threw in the towel. Edwin Khneisser (LBN) joined a compact and animated top five. Rillaerts took over the lead at the halfway point with previous leader Konik 5th while Nishida took the 1st place. The race was not easy for Antoine Broggio (FRA) who started 14th and was now 20th. Vilcans then led ahead of Khneisser and Nishida. The battle became even more intense towards the finish. Nishida won against Harry Linden (GBR), Khneisser in 3rd was penalised 13th, Mark Koziaev (RUS) recovered 3rd position, with Rillaerts 4th and Vilcans 5th. Broggio was 17th in the Final battle, but found himself 34th after a 15” penalty.

Stolcermanis kept the lead in front of Rillaerts and Thien. Vilcans was 4th and Bol 5th. Blin was 9th.
