Antonelli takes pole position in World KZ Championship

Qualifying Practice for the FIA Karting World Championship – KZ followed the four KZ2 sessions in the fine weather at Kristianstad. The best performance of the Free Practice sessions at the beginning of the day went to Fabian Federer (Maranello/TM) in 49”742, more than a tenth better than Viktor Gustafsson (Birel ART/TM). On his home turf, Noah Milell (Tony Kart/Vortex) showed great speed ahead of Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM), Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/Iame) and Douglas Lundberg (Sodi/TM).

Fabian Federer (Maranello/TM) set a third lap in 49’845, but Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/Iame) took the lead on his second lap with 49’826 and took pole position by 2 thousandths from Noah Milell (Tony Kart/Vortex). Federer kept 3rd place ahead of Matteo Vigano (Birel ART/TM) and Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM). Adrien Renaudin (Sodi/TM) completed a very tight top six by 4 hundredths. In 7th place, Viktor Gusfasson (Birel ART/TM) was 0.131” ahead of Lorenzo Camplese (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart/Vortex). Paolo Ippolito (CRG/TM) was 10th at 0.156”, Emilien Denner (KR/TM) 11th ahead of Jorrit Pex (KR/TM) and Marijn Kremers (Birel ART/TM). Anthony Abbasse (Sodi/TM) was neck and neck with Bas Lammers (KR/Iame), Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART/TM) and Alex Irlando (CRG/TM) from 14th to 17th position. Jeremy Iglesias (CRG/TM) finished 18th, less than 3 tenths behind and Craig Tanic (Birel ART/TM) 24th, 6 tenths behind.
