Pollini European KZ2 Champion after winning a Final full of twists

24 laps were scheduled for the decisive Final of the FIA Karting European Championship – KZ2 at the Adria Karting Raceway, with its blue skies and 37° temperature.

Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) got off to a good start ahead of Danilo Albanese (KR/Iame). Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM) lost his 3rd place in the battle of the first lap to Giacomo Pollini (CRG/TM). On the second lap, Albanese was very threatening, but he ended up getting into a tangle with Palomba and dropping out, while his rival fell to 7th. Pollini took the lead ahead of Paavo Tonteri (CRG/TM) and Van Walstijn. The Dutchman was threatened by one of his team-mates Hubert Petit (Sodi/TM) but it was another CPB Sport driver, Arthur Carbonnel (Sodi/TM), who took over in 4th position ahead of Laurens Van Hoepen (Birel ART/TM).

Pollini was very fast and took the lead with the title in his sights, followed by Tonteri. At mid-race, van Walstijn’s gap to the leader was more than 2 seconds. Carbonnel and Petit completed the top five. Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin/TM) came back to 6th place, passing Van Hoepen and setting a fastest lap. From the 19th lap onwards, Van Walstijn accelerated and closed in on Tonteri. The Dutchman tried to attack on the last lap, but there was contact between the two. Petit took advantage of this to take 2nd place, with Travisanutto following in 3rd ahead of Carbonnel. Van Walstijn finished 5th, Tonteri 6th and Van Hoepen 7th ahead of Palomba. Pollini took a superb victory with a lead of nearly 3” and became the new European KZ2 Champion.
