Vigano scores third win in Adria KZ heats

The last Qualifying Heat of the FIA Karting European Championship – KZ took place on Sunday morning under the blue sky of Adria with a temperature of 32°.

Viktor Gustafsson (Birel ART/TM) took the lead at the start against Matteo Vigano (Birel ART/TM). Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM) was 3rd ahead of Paolo Ippolito (CRG/TM) and Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM), followed by Emilien Denner (Intrepid/TM). Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/Iame) was 10th. Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART/TM) climbed eight places to 13th. Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart/Vortex) moved up to 7th, while Antonelli fell to 14th. The two Charles Leclerc chassis were racing as a team, with Gustafsson ahead of Vigano. The latter passed his team-mate when he felt Iglesias getting closer. But Hiltbrand attacked the Frenchman in an attempt at a CL Kart trio. However, this was not exactly what happened. Vigano took his third victory, followed this time by Hiltbrand. Iglesias was back in 3rd place after passing Gustafsson, while Denner finished 5th ahead of Ippolito. Longhi took 11th position after a 10 place climb.

In the heat rankings, Vigano confirmed his leadership with a blank score. Ippolito will start from the front row ahead of Gustafsson and Hiltbrand, then Stan Pex (KR/TM) and Antonelli on the third row. Denner, Iglesias and Adrien Renaudin (Sodi/TM) followed each other from 7th to 9th position. Championship leader Longhi climbed from 21st to 13th place, but the race for the title remains complex for him. Yohan Soguel (Oberon/Iame) was in a good 14th position ahead of Alex Irlando (CRG/TM) and Marijn Kremers (Birel ART/TM).
