Aunay : Slater Junior poleman in European Championship

The time practice of the second round of the European Junior Championship took place at the end of the afternoon of Friday 28th May in Aunay-les-Bois with 82 drivers. Pleasant weather, temperatures around 20° and above all, a dry track, made a fair confrontation possible.

Arthur Poulain (Kosmic/Vortex) was the fastest in the first session with a time of 48”126 on his 8th lap. Kirill Kutskov (KR/Iame) followed by 19 thousandths, Zachary David (KR/Iame) finished 3rd by 32 thousandths, Andres Cardenas (KR/Iame) 4th by 38 thousandths and Augustin Bernier (KR/Iame) 5th by 64 thousandths. Guillaume Bouzar (Parolin/TM) was 6th with a gap of 0.238″, Harley Keeble (Tony Kart/Vortex) 14th and Enzo Perrot Thommerot (Exprit/TM) 17th.

The battle continued until the very end of the second session when William Macintyre (Birel ART/TM) set the fastest time of 48’058, 53 thousandths ahead of Maciej Gladysz (KR/Iame) and 88 thousandths ahead of Rashid Al Dhaheri (Parolin/TM). A tenth further back, Kean Nakamura Berta (Exprit/TM) and James Egozi (Tony Kart/Vortex) completed the top five followed by Dion Gowda (Kosmic/Vortex). Hugo Herrouin (Kosmic/Vortex) was 8th and Maxens Verbrugge (Kosmic/Vortex) 9th, with Jules Champigny Roussel (Sodi/TM) finishing 15th ahead of Douwe Dedecker (KR/Iame).

Nacho Tuñon Garcia (KR/Iame) made his presence felt at the top of the third session ranking, then Maxim Rehm (Kosmic/Vortex) faced Tomass Stolcemanis (Energy/TM) for 1st place. Rehm continued to improve and took provisional pole on 48”004, with Stolemanis 16 thousandths back. Rehm then had his best lap cancelled due to an incident during Free Practice and was 2nd behind Stolcemanis in 48’059. Luka Sammalisto (KR/Iame) was 3rd by 8 hundredths, followed by Tigran Bunatyan (Energy/TM) and Enzo Deligny (Parolin/TM) in the top five. Clément Outran (KR/Iame) finished 11th ahead of Ean Eyckmans (Kosmic/Vortex), with Arthur Dorison (Sodi/TM) taking 18th place.

Freddie Slater (Kosmic/Vortex) quickly showed his ambitions in the fourth session, with Alex Powell (KR/Iame) in his wake. The reigning World Champion was the only one to go under 48″. He took the lead on the fifth lap and improved again on his last lap with 47’937. Powell was 2nd by 8 hundredths, Konstantin Krapin (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 3rd by 0,136”, Matheus Fereira (KR/Iame) and Coskun Irfan (KR/Iame) in the top five.
