Qualifying for the FIA Karting Academy Trophy were not disturbed by the threat of a storm and the only difference was an hour. Most of the drivers waited for the last three minutes to enter the track.
Alex Powell (JAM) set a reference time of 50”878 in the first session, Eron Rexhepi (CHE) was a hair’s breadth behind him, but Powell regained the lead with 50”709 by a good tenth on his third lap. Tom Braeken (BEL) followed closely in 3rd position ahead of Bartolomiej Piekutowski (POL) and Schu Dozono (JPN).
In Session 2, the situation settled down 1’30 from the end. Keanu Al Azhari (ARE) and Oscar Wurz (AUT) dropped below 50”8. Al Azhari then posted a 50”499 which was not beaten. Jonathan Weywadt (DNK) managed to get within one tenth of the time, Maxime Furon Castelain (LUX) followed by 0.248” ahead of Wurz, followed by Macéo Capietto (FRA) in 6th position.
