CIK : Technical and Homologation Regulations

In order to ensure greater stability of homologated equipment and to have better cost control, it has been decided to limit during the homologation period the number of homologation Extensions, and forbid them in some cases, according to the equipment considered :

– only one Extension allowed (instead of 2) for chassis and engines,
– no Extensions allowed (instead of 2) for bodywork and brakes,
– no Extensions allowed (new provision) for carburettors, ignitions and inlet silencers.

It has also been decided to limit to 3 years (instead of 6) the validity of future homologations of hand-controlled front brakes.

It is now specifi ed in the International Karting Regulations in particular that it is mandatory to use magnetic steel for all exhausts and that it is allowed to use a piano chord with a diameter of 0.20 mm (instead of a wedge with a 0.20 mm thickness) for the control of angles in the case of ports which do not allow the use of the wedge (typical example: exhaust “booster”).
